💬 General Grab Hire FAQs

Q: What is grab hire?
A: Grab hire is a service that uses a lorry with a hydraulic arm (“grab”) to collect and remove large amounts of waste or aggregates quickly — no need for a skip permit or manual loading.

Q: How much waste can a grab lorry carry?
A: Our grab lorries can carry up to 16–20 tonnes of material in a single load.

Q: How does grab hire work?
A: You pile your waste in an accessible area (within 6 metres of where we can park), and we arrive, grab it, and take it away — fast and efficient.

Q: Do I need to load the waste myself?
A: No — our driver will operate the grab arm to load the waste for you.

Q: What types of waste can you remove?
A: We remove soil, hardcore, rubble, concrete, bricks, clay, green waste, and general non-hazardous construction waste.

Q: Do you take household or black bin bag rubbish?
A: No, we specialise in bulk inert or green waste — not domestic general rubbish.

Q: Can you collect from residential driveways?
A: Yes — as long as access is safe and clear for the lorry, we can serve residential, commercial, and construction sites.

Q: Do I need a permit for grab hire?
A: No permit is required because we don’t leave the lorry on site — we load and go.

Q: Can you come the same day?
A: Often yes — we offer same-day or next-day bookings depending on availability.

Q: How long does a grab collection take?
A: Most collections are complete in 15–30 minutes depending on the load and access.

🚧 Muck Away & Site Clearance FAQs

Q: What does muck away mean?
A: Muck away refers to the removal of large volumes of inert waste like soil, clay, or rubble from construction or landscaping projects.

Q: Do you remove mixed waste or just soil?
A: We can collect clean inert waste, mixed construction waste, and green waste, but not hazardous or contaminated materials.

Q: Can you clear an entire site for us?
A: Yes — we provide full site clearance, including multiple loads and coordinated collections.

Q: Do you provide waste transfer notes?
A: Yes — as licensed waste carriers, we provide legal documentation on request.

Q: Are you fully insured?
A: Absolutely. WCR GrabHire is fully insured and fully licensed under the Environment Agency.

🪨 Aggregates & Delivery FAQs

Q: Do you supply aggregates?
A: Yes — we deliver bulk aggregates including:

  • MOT Type 1

  • Crushed concrete

  • Sharp sand / building sand

  • Ballast

  • Topsoil

  • Shingle & planings

Q: What is the minimum order for aggregates?
A: We supply bulk loads — typically 10 to 20 tonnes per delivery for best value.

Q: Can I combine delivery and waste removal?
A: Yes — we often deliver aggregates and collect waste in the same trip to save you time and money.

Q: How do I know what aggregate I need?
A: Just tell us what you’re building — we’ll recommend the right type for your job (e.g. sub-base, concrete mix, drainage, etc).

Q: Do you provide recycled aggregates?
A: Yes — including crushed concrete and recycled Type 1, depending on availability.

🚚 Tipper Hire FAQs

Q: What is tipper hire?
A: Tipper hire uses a standard lorry (without grab arm) to collect or deliver bulk materials like soil, hardcore, or aggregates.

Q: How is tipper hire different to grab hire?
A: Tipper hire requires the material to be loaded by machine (e.g. digger), whereas grab lorries load themselves.

Q: Can I book a tipper and digger from you?
A: We can coordinate with your digger hire team or recommend local providers.
