The material enquiry

The right specification comes first.

Sharp sand is a coarse sand used in selected bedding and construction applications where it is specified. WCR advertises sharp sand delivery for building and landscaping enquiries. Tell the team what you are making, the grade required and where the load needs placing.

Photos on this page show WCR vehicles and material handling. They do not certify a particular product grade. Confirm the description, quantity and availability in your quotation.

01 / Plan the delivery

Choose sand for the intended application

Paving systems, mortar and concrete mixes can require different sands. Share the specification supplied by your contractor or product manufacturer. Do not assume sharp sand can replace building sand or a proprietary bedding material simply because both are called sand.

02 / Plan the delivery

Estimate the area and depth

For a planned layer, measure length, width and depth in metres. For a construction mix, ask the person specifying the mix for the material quantity. Volume and weight are different measurements, so include the figures and their units when requesting a delivery quote.

03 / Plan the delivery

Prepare a clean placement area

Agree where the loose sand will be placed and keep it separate from rubble, soil and other materials. Show the access route, walls and the proposed lorry position in your photos. Confirm the quantity, delivery method and availability with WCR before the visit.

Is sharp sand the same as building sand?

They describe different material options. Choose against the actual grading and application requirements and ask your builder or designer before substituting one for the other.

Does the sand photo show the exact grade supplied?

The photographs show WCR material handling and site work. They do not certify a sand grade; confirm the quoted material description with the team.
