Plan the vehicle around both the material and the site. Payload, pile volume and arm reach describe different limits, and none of them confirms a booking by itself.
Payload is a weight limit
A lorry has a permitted payload, but the suitable load also depends on the material and loading conditions. Heavy soil or concrete reaches a weight limit differently from bulky light waste. Confirm the planned vehicle and load rather than rely on a generic capacity claim.
Pile measurements estimate volume
Give rough length, width and height measurements in metres. An irregular pile is only an estimate. Material density, moisture and anything mixed into the pile can affect the likely weight and the number of loads.
Reach needs a safe working position
Measure or photograph the space between the proposed lorry position and the pile. Include wall or fence height, trees, vehicles and overhead services. The lorry must be able to stand and work safely, even when the pile is within arm reach.
Grab or tipper?
